News From Our Scene
Streetalkny covers the music scene on a daily basis. Here’s a collection of music news we dig!
Lee Bains + The Glory Fires “Old-Time Folks”
Lee Bains + The Glory Fires just released their new album “Old-Time Folks” on August 5th on Don Giovanni Records, their fourth full length album!
From Don Giovanni Records:
“Since releasing their first album There Is a Bomb in Gilead in 2012, the road-worn Birmingham, Alabama band – singer and guitarist Lee Bains, bassist Adam Williamson, and drummer Blake Williamson – has built a reputation as being what NPR calls “punks revved up by the hot-damn hallelujah of Southern rock” who carry on “the Friday-night custom of burning down the house,” a raw live sound that they captured with Texas punk producer Tim Kerr on studio albums Dereconstructed (2014) and Youth Detention (2017) before recording a full-on live album at their favorite hometown dive, Live at the Nick (2019).”
New ACID DAD t-shirts on Greenway Records!
“Paterson II” Alex Heigl’s newest album is out now (8/5)!
I was gonna make this a “concept album” about Paterson the Town but I abandoned that idea because this was made largely in lockdown and I was very sad and tired all the time.
That said, if you’re a nerd like me, this is the Library of Congress Folklife project that I was gonna steal everything from. (The Jarmusch movie’s not bad either.)

Opentab / Fire Talk with the launch of @harrisonpatricksmith of The Dare new single “Girls”, premiered by Paper. Filmed by @poweredbywind
From Paper: “Jake Lazovick (Powered by Wind) shot the video at Home Sweet Home, where I DJ weekly, in order to capture a real downtown NYC party,” The Dare says of the music video. “We invited all of our friends and told them to go crazy while I DJ’d and ran around. A lot of the people in it are fellow musicians or collaborators, and some of them are girls.”
“Happy Now” – THICK‘s new album is set to release August 19th on Epitaph Records! They have two singles/videos out now, “Loser” & “Tell Myself”!
